Golden Triangle Circuit – The King of Tours in India
No matter what you like or dislike about India, you would agree that as a tourist destination, India cannot be ignored. The sheer magnitude of India’s prowess in culture, tradition and architectural marvels is second to none. Ancient monuments, lush green valleys, towering mountains and white sandy beaches, with India, there is no shortage of options to consider. Arguably, even months on end are not enough to discover a country so large in area, and with so much to offer. But not everyone has that kind of time. So, what do you do? The Golden Triangle Circuit is clearly the answer!
What is the Golden Triangle?
By the number of tourists visiting each year (both domestic and international), Golden Triangle is the top tourist circuit of India! The tri-city combo of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, referred to as the Golden Triangle is geographically the heart of the Indian landscape.
The King of Tourist Circuits in India
One of the most important reasons behind the legendary status of this region is its tourism product offering. In simpler terms, there is so much to do and see here, that it puts many major destinations to shame! It doesn’t matter if you are a fan of ancient history or lean towards great cuisine, the Golden Triangle has your back!
For first-timers to India, Golden Triangle is a one-stop shop to experience the true spirit of Indian tourism. In a short span of 5-7 days, this quintessential tour can be completed.
However, if you have been here already, fret not, for you can still have the best of the king of tours through lesser-known experiences. Read on to find more.
Off The Beaten Path
Usually, the Golden Triangle tour starts in the national capital of Delhi, given its efficient air connectivity with all the major airports in the world. Besides checking out the most common tourist sites such as the Qutub Minar, Red Fort and Old Delhi, savour the traditional Mughlai cuisine in the streets of Old Delhi. Perhaps take a rickshaw ride, just like the locals do, in these crowded streets and feel what a usual day feels like.
In Jaipur, of course, you’d want to visit the Jantar Mantar – the historic observatory and the numerous forts and palaces, but taking a hot air balloon ride over the city is a once-in-lifetime-experience. Nothing compares to the thrill of viewing the pink city from these heights. Besides this, if you have an additional day left after all the leather and jewellery shopping in the city, check out Elephantastic – a beautiful elephant sanctuary.
The third city on the circuit, Agra is renowned for the iconic Taj Mahal. But what if you’ve seen the majestic Taj in all its glory, multiple times? Check out the Sheroes – a café unlike any you’ve ever been to! This café is run by the female survivors of acid attacks in India. Take to the streets of Agra in the morning and taste the sumptuous breakfast of the region – Bedmi Poori (fried bread) served with spicy potato curry.
In all three cities, you can also enrol in short cooking classes, if you, like many foreign tourists, have fallen in love with Indian cuisine. If food is not your thing, many jewellers and craftsmen in Jaipur and Agra run courses on traditional crafts. Moreover, if you are not in a hassle to return home, take a day tour to the Ranthambore National Park. Spread over 500 square miles, Ranthambore is home to Tigers, Leopards and many species of other wild animals.
The Golden Triangle will never cease to amaze you, despite the number of times you visit it. If planned well and executed properly, there is no other circuit in the world that has so much to offer, for all types of tourists.
